Buttermilk Pie This recipe has been in the Royal Family for many years. It is probably the most favorite. The pie is very rich and usually is best if served in small portions. Some family members like to freeze the pie and eat it frozen.
Cream together egg yolks and butter. Add sugar and flour. Add buttermilk and vanilla. Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold egg whites. Pour into unbaked pie crust.
Bake at 350 degrees until done, about 45 minutes.
For a less riched pie, use 1 1/2 cups of sugar instead of 2. Also 1/2 cups of chopped pecans can be added to bottom of pie crust before adding mixture for baking, the nuts will raise to the top.
