Marie's Party Potatoes

1      cube melted Oleo margarine
1      can cream of chicken soup
1/2    cup onion, diced (white or yellow)
1      teaspoon salt
1/2    teaspoon pepper
8      ounces sour cream
10     ounces grated cheddar cheese
2      pounds frozen hash brown potatoes       
        crushed potato chips

Thaw hash browns and mix with remaining ingredients. 
Top with crushed potato chips. 
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
